On November 11th, 2015, opening ceremony of Jiangsu 9th Academic Meeting for Philosophy and Social Sciences-Signing ceremony of Belt & Road Institute constructed by the government and university was held ceremoniously. More than 120 people attended the ceremony, including director of Propaganda Department of Jiangsu provincial party committee Yanwen Wang, secretary of Xuzhou municipal committee Xinping Cao, government mayor Zhu Min, vice director of the Propaganda Department of Jiangsu provincial party committee Chuanxue Shuang, secretary and vice chairman of Jiangsu Federation of Philosophy and Social Sciences Dehai Liu, secretary of the party committee of Jiangsu Normal University Fangming Xu, Jiangsu Normal University president Guihong, director of the Propaganda Department of Xuzhou Municipal Committee Qipu Feng, deputy secretary and vice chairman of Jiangsu Federation of Philosophy and Social Sciences Xingguo Wang, vice chairman of Jiangsu Federation of Philosophy and Social Sciences Zhishun Xu, experts and scholars from universities and research institutes in China and abroad, people from governments and enterprises, teachers and students etc.
On behalf of the university, Prof. Fangming Xu gave a presentation to welcome all people present. In addition, he introduced the achievements of Jiangsu Normal University in the humanities and social sciences, the significance of the Academic Meeting for Philosophy and Social Sciences, as well as the objective of the establishment of Belt & Road Institute. Prof. Fangming Xu pointed out that the meeting has a significant influence inside and outside Jiangsu province. The topic of academic activities in the opening ceremony is “Education Fairness and Happiness of People”, which reflects modernity, pertinence, and innovativeness. According to the Jiangsu policy, the university focused on the research of Belt & Road. Belt & Road Institute will be established in a short time, which suggests that Xuzhou will speed up the integration into the Belt & Road. It is an important achievement of the cooperation between Xuzhou government and Jiangsu Normal University. The establishment of the institute is also a measure for promoting the construction of new think tank. With the help of the institute, the university will promote the cooperation between Xuzhou and other countries and regions along the Belt & Road in order to create a new first-rate think tank for serving China development strategy.
The director of Propaganda Department of Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee Yanwen Wang delivered an important speech at the meeting. She pointed out that the Eighteen Member Congress of CPC raised a request about the implementation of Philosophy and Social Sciences innovation project. The philosophy and social scientists in Jiangsu province should strengthen our efforts to build “Super Brain”.
The mayor of Xuzhou city Zhu Min co-signed “The Protocol of the co-construction for Jiangsu Normal University Belt & Road Institute” with president of university Guihong Hua. Yanwen Wang, Xinping Cao, and Fangming Xu witnessed the establishment of Belt & Road Institute. Chuanxue Shuang announced the author list which won the prize in the meeting. In the “education and sociology” academic activity, Mr Chunguang Wang from National Education Advisory Committee, vice dean of education school Mr. Junjian Feng and dean of education institute Lin Chen gave some presentations about the education fairness and the happiness.
